What I do

Building software since 2006, running my own consulting practice since 2016. I work with founders and startups as a software development consultant, often stepping into a CTO role for the engagement. From idea to product in market, I own the architecture, the build, and the pace of shipping that startups cannot afford to get wrong.

I work across the full stack and the full lifecycle: architecture decisions, hands on build, hiring and leading developers, vendor and infrastructure choices, and the operational discipline that keeps shipping steady once the first version is live.

Success means turning the right idea into a working product, validating the business case, and creating a clear path toward launch, funding, or scale.

Sergey is an expert in his field. I hired him for consulting to help me shape development strategies on one of our most important project. Working with Sergey was a great experience and well worth the cost. I hope to work with him again.

How I plug in

Build

  • Set the architecture and stack to match the business stage
  • Ship the first version end to end, not just plan it
  • Make build vs buy calls so the team does not over engineer
  • Own the codebase quality bar and review discipline

Lead

  • Hire and onboard the first engineers
  • Run the developer interview pipeline
  • Coordinate overseas teams and third party vendors
  • Translate between business and engineering

Operate

  • Set up CI, deploys, and monitoring before they are urgent
  • Choose infrastructure that fits the budget today and scales with the company
  • Spot and triage production issues
  • Keep the pace of shipping steady through hiring, scope changes, and early customer pressure

Sergey is a great developer who really understands technology and complex problems. Not only will he help you execute, but he can assist in pointing you in the right direction. Very knowledgeable and professional all around.

Process

How I approach each project.

  • Discovery

We start by clarifying the business goal, technical needs, constraints, timeline, and budget. The goal is to understand what should be built, why it matters, and what success looks like.

  • Technical Direction

I map out practical solution options, explain the tradeoffs, and help choose the best path based on cost, complexity, speed, and long-term flexibility.

  • Proof of Concept

Before going full scale, we can build a focused pilot or MVP to validate the idea, reduce risk, and confirm the technical direction.

  • Iterative Development

Development is handled in focused stages, with regular review points, fast feedback, and clear priorities. This keeps the project moving without wasting time or budget.

  • Communication

Clear communication is part of the work. You stay informed, involved where needed, and aligned on decisions throughout the project.

Sergey took time to listen to the project situation, needs and constraints before offering any off-the-shelf solution. His approach to solve our issue was very pertinent.
